A new album on Spotify and all platforms! https://open.spotify.com/album/60L8U2p9kGKsGWyDehwh2W From the Phoenix Ensemble newsletter: Just in time for the New Year, we release a live recording of Uri Brener's Spanish Lamento, quoting “Ki Gadol Yom”, an ancient Andalusian piyut sung for the High Holidays. Commissioned by Ensemble PHOENIX, Uri Brener’s Spanish Lamento for early instruments (in memory of the Jewish expulsion from Spain 1492-97) features a prominent role for the harpsichord in powerful exchanges with 2 baroque violins, baroque viola and viola da gamba. The piece was chosen on the call for scores of PIERROT ENSEMBLE SERIES Vol. 5 Recordings 2021. In the resume it was stated: "We were very taken and impressed with your Three Ballet Scenes. The piece has tremendous instrumental color, beautiful textures, impressive formal structure and most of all uses the orchestra brilliantly." At the same time it was chosen for a recording with the Israeli "Meitar" ensemble, and will be performed and recorded as a part of their live stream next month.
