“JACOB AND ANGEL”, oratorio for a reader, mixed choir and orchestra (2024) op.121

The piece is based on biblical account of a mighty confrontation between patriarch Jacob and an angel, which symbolizes confrontation with the powers that are trying to exterminate or undermine the role of Jewish nation as God`s witness in this world among the nations. It is an eternal fight of human spirit against outside powers that are seemingly much stronger, yet are unable to break this spirit, no matter the circumstances. Even in the darkest moments of human history, Jewish and human spirit has remained undefeated and unsubdued.
