Vocalise for flute and piano
was originally composed as a second movement of a triptych
for harp, flute and chamber orchestra called “City of Mystics”.
The piece depicts an imagery of beautiful and almost non-real landscapes of that fictional City.
However it may as well be just a wink of childhood memory, appearing in a mind of a grown-up,
asking himself, whether this was indeed something real, or just a fantasy?
As Antoine de Saint Exupéry puts it in his “Little Prince”:
All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.
In fact, the main theme of this piece was composed at a time when the composer himself
was almost a child, 13 of age, and it was inspired by the Exupéry`s magnificent book.
Therefore it is of a little surprise that as an epigraph he chose following phrase:

All you need is to truly love one thing to be filled with love for everything.
