“Symphonic Chronicles” is a symphonic cycle that includes historical images from the annals of Russian history between the 17th and 19th centuries. The cycle begins with the period of Peter the Great and ends with the death of the Russian national poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. The cycle consists of 12 movements.
Besides those devoted to historical figures, there are also parts of interlude, which express a more personal aspect, a reflection upon, reaction to and interpretation of the events or figures described.
Most notably, such is the last movement, which, in fact, is a choral-symphonic canvas inspired by the imagery of the famous poem by A.Pushkin “The Prophet”, dated 1826.
